Cyber Crime through apps is raging internationally across the border. People are sharing their data negligently in Apps resulting in mass data hacking. App and Data awareness is urgent need for Government and Citizen.
Introduction:
Now a day’s apps are launching in great numbers. Everyday varieties of apps are casting concurrently in the consumer market of India. Starting from vegetable buying, online shopping, medical checkups, travelling and tickets booking like these thousand and thousand apps are pitching the market surpassingly.
App:
“App is the abbreviation of application. This app/application is a computer program or a piece of software designed for a particular purpose that you can download onto a mobile phone or other mobile device .”
Advantages of App:
We are also getting much benefit from these apps. In this busy schedule of life, it has reduced our burden and simplified our life style, Now just on a click,we are getting our food, grocery, vegetables, clothes, cosmetics, medicine, vehicle and many more required things at our doorstep, without struggling in traffic and travelling.
At present apps are working like as our friends, philosopher, guide, doctor and also as teacher. We can say these apps are gift to the present society.
Be cautious while using Apps:
But one thing we are taking very casually when we share our personal, debit and credit card data to these new apps. Without thinking the authenticity, the source and origin of these apps,we are contributing our most valuable data to these apps.
To know more about the data, importance of data. Please read our article "The Emerging Data World, know your Data, its importance and Data crime.". Moreover the security in mobile is very less as compared to the computer.
Cybercrime by using Apps:
Internationally many cyber criminals and hackers across the cross border are engaged in cyber crimes such as identity theft, financial fraud, advance fee fraud, data hacking and other terrorist acts. About these cyber crimes we are completely unaware.
Suppose in the market one shopping app has come that if you shop from this site, you will get 50 percent off, on purchase off worth Rs.5000.And without identifying the source of this app we just downloaded it and started out virtual shopping and done the payment.
Like us many people downloaded this app, shopped and made payment. Then after some days, we get to know that all our details are hacked, our hard earning money has fraudulently taken from our account and utilized in terrorist activities.
And all these happened due to the shared debit and credit card details on this app without identifying the source and authenticity of this app.
This was mere an example. But these kinds of mass financial hacking have happened several times in India. But we are not able to find from which source criminals has hacked our data. Not only in India but also many countries all around the globe face the same challenge.
Dealing negligently, with all the apps may lead to great tragic nations lost. So now finally the time has come, Government should take the responsibility and initiatives on putting some clause and breaks on the vast rise of apps market.
Government Responsibility in Affirming the Apps:
Government should show its great dynamism on the security layer of the cyber world and put some restriction and measures on affirming the apps. It should also identify the source and cause of the apps. All the apps have to be examined properly for the cyber security test, after that they should provide certification to those apps which will successfully pass the cyber security tests. After proper validation and certification, only certified apps should be launched to handle the 1.3 billion people secure data.
Citizen Awareness on Apps:
Keeping responsibility only on the Government will not guarantee us 100 percent security as long as we are not aware of real utility of these apps and how to use these apps safely.
We should keep knowledge on which apps we should use and where we should contribute our data. Before downloading we should properly validate the source and cause of the apps.
By having little bit mindfulness and keeping yourself away from small greediness in choosing the apps and using the apps will really give us the proper and absolute benefit of apps without any loss.
Conclusion:
So finally filtering the applications/apps through Government cyber certification along with the proper apps awareness of people for where and how to share the data in apps will make the fruitful implementation of these applications in real sense. Otherwise we all will be victim of sitting at home and using these apps but our data and money will be used by many cyber criminals inside or across the border.
Read it and share it, so that maximum people can be aware by it.
Good effort to deal with malicious apps
Nice topic, but are we 100% protected from the internet world ?
Cyber Laws in India prevent any crime done using technology, where a computer is a tool for cybercrime. The laws for cyber crime protects citizens from dispensing sensitive information to a stranger online. Ever since the introduction to cyber laws in India happened, IT Act 2000 was enacted and amended in 2008 covering different types of crimes under cyber law in India. The Act explains the types of cyber crime and punishment.
Awareness protects us from accidents. With huge demands in technology and apps, day by day public data's are open in huge internet ocean. So we must know how it is happening and how to protect data.
